How to get a residence permit in the UAE

According to the United Arab Emirates laws, you can obtain a residence permit in the country:

  • • by enrolling in a UAE university
  • • investing in the country's economy or buying real estate.

UAE residence permit for investment: program details

Investing in a business or real estate is the most popular way to obtain a residence permit among foreigners who decide to move to the country. You can become the holder of a resident visa by choosing one of the options offered by the investment program.

Option 1. Buy a property worth $545,000 or more. Residential and commercial properties with exclusive ownership can be purchased, as well as off-plan housing in government-approved development projects.

Option 2. Capital investment of at least $2.7 million in the UAE investment fund. This enables the investor to obtain a visa for a period of 10 years.

Option 3. Establishing a company or partnership with an existing company with a minimum authorized capital of $2.7 million.

Option 4. Bank deposit in the amount of at least $2.7 million.

Smaller investments in the economy or real estate give the right to obtain a resident visa for a period of 2.3 or 5 years.

UAE residence permit for investment: program conditions

The terms and conditions of the residency by investment program contain some important points that you need to know:

  • in some cases, investment capital can be borrowed
  • the investments listed above must be repaid
  • the residence visa can be extended multiple times
  • 10-year resident visa allows you to live in your home country and do business in the UAE
  • UAE resident status allows you to bring your close relatives to the country.

To obtain a residence permit, foreigners must be at least 21 years old, pass due diligence. A prerequisite is also the absence of a criminal record and serious infectious diseases.

The main benefits of the UAE residence permit are the ability to send your children to local schools and universities, get health insurance, open local bank accounts, travel without visas to more than 150 countries, and open a long-term visa to the United States under a simplified procedure.
