Sheikh Mohammed announces the creation of a new committee to oversee Dubai Expo-2020

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, as Ruler of Dubai issued Decree No. (15) of 2022 on the establishment of the Supreme Committee for the Supervision of Expo-2020 area in Dubai. The new committee will be headed by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum.

 

Sheikh Mohammed also issued Decree No. (16) of 2022 extending the term of office of the Expo 2020 Preparatory Committee in Dubai, as well as Expo-2020 Bureau and its Director General for six months, starting from the date of entry into force of the Decree. Their terms of office may be extended again for similar periods.

 

The Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai may extend the term of office of the Committee on the basis of the recommendation of the Chairman of the Committee.

 

The main functions of the Supreme Committee include the development of a general policy for the development of the Expo 2020 Dubai area and supervision of the implementation, management and development of all projects, initiatives, programs and activities in the area.

 

The new committee is also tasked with overseeing the development and implementation of district development plans in coordination with the relevant authorities and ensuring that they comply with the priorities and objectives of the Government of Dubai.
