The emirate of Dubai is famous for its mega residential and commercial projects. From the artificial marvel Palm Jumeirah to the world’s tallest building Burj Khalifa, the city has pushed the boundaries of real estate innovation with its impressive property portfolio. Aladdin City in Dubai Creek is one of such upcoming projects, mythical proportions of which match its famous name.
The concept of the project, inspired by the tales of Aladdin and Sinbad, was greenlighted in 2014, the construction started in 2016 and is currently in progress. The development of this mega project is being led by the Dubai Municipality.
The 4,000-acre themed complex is inspired by the tales about Aladdin, Sinbad and other stories from the Arabian Nights. When completed, Aladdin City will comprise three high-rise towers featuring 27, 18 and 10 storeys. The towers will be designed to resemble Aladdin’s magic lamp from the popular fable.
The three towers will be connected with air-conditioned bridges and moving walkways so residents can easily move between the buildings.
In addition to that, the shape of the bridges connecting the towers will resemble the dragons, snakes and other exotic creatures immortalized by the books. On the plans of Aladdin City circulating online you can see stunning exteriors of the buildings – glass covered with the gold lattice.
The Aladdin City project will include a 27-storey building for hotels and offices, an 8-storey building that will serve as hotel building entrance, an 18-storey commercial tower connected to a 10-storey high parking building.
To bring the vision to life the Dubai Municipality had shortlisted the three following companies: Arif & Bintoak Consulting Architects and Engineers, Meinhardt Group and Incorporated Consultants. Eventually, the project was awarded to Meinhardt Group, came on board as consultants for the project, while architectural support was provided by Architect International Design Studio (IDS). The proposed cost of the project is estimated at USD 15 billion.
Aladdin City will be situated in the historic area of Dubai – Dubai Creek (Khor Dubai), where you can still see wooden sailing boats and traders exchanging goods in the souks.
