The oldest island of the UAE will turn into a residential area

In the near future, UAE residents will be able to live on an island with stunning views of the beach, enjoying a first-class selection of retail stores and restaurants.

On Tuesday, the Government of Umm al-Quwain announced a large-scale development of Al-Sinnia Island worth 2.47 billion dirhams, the oldest island in the UAE with diverse wildlife and rare archaeological sites.

Sheikh Rashid bin Said bin Rashid Al Mualla, Crown Prince of Umm al-Quwain, witnessed the signing of the first phase of the Al-Sinnia Island development project, which involves the construction of a three-lane bridge. The island will be connected to the Ittihad road.

The 2.5 km long bridge will cost 300 million dirhams and will be completed in the next 20 months. The design will make it easier for citizens and residents to enter the island, which is currently accessible only by boat.

The first phase of the island development project also includes the construction of villas and two hotels. The large-scale development project, covering more than 30 million square meters, is part of efforts to promote the emirate as a key tourist and commercial destination.
