Dubai is preparing for District 2020, which will be formed inside and around Expo-2020. At the moment, attention will be focused on repurposing the entire exhibition area.
The first step will be to compile a detailed inventory of the property that needs to be removed from the pavilions after the dismantling works. Contractors and project management teams will be busy with demolition work, which may take three to six months. This generally corresponds to the stated deadline. So, the first tenants will move into the offices in October 2022. District 2020 positions as a full-scale innovation center equipped with the latest available technologies and services with 5G support.
During the six months of the exhibition, more than 200 pavilions were constructed. It is assumed that at least 10 to 12 of the total number of pavilions will remain in place. The entire infrastructure of the facility, such as roads, parking, utilities remain along with the famous Al Wasl Plaza, Rove Hotel, the water area located in the central part of Expo-2020, as well as all the facilities in the Al Forsan and Jubilee parks. After the exhibition, Dubai Exhibition Center, metro stations and much more will continue to work.
