The initiative kicks off on 12 March with clean-ups at Discovery Gardens and Jumeirah Village Circle this weekend.
Nakheel is launching a new environmental awareness campaign at its master developments across Dubai that will kick off with community clean-ups at Discovery Gardens and Jumeirah Village Circle this weekend.
Nakheel Community Management has teamed up with Dubai-based neighbourhood social network Hayi and environmental management company Bee’ah for the initiative, which complements Nakheel’s regular waste management program and forms part of the company’s ongoing calendar of community events.
Residents are invited to join teams from Nakheel, Hayi and Bee’ah to help collect waste from outdoor common areas at Discovery Gardens and Jumeirah Village Circle. All participants will be provided with bags and gloves, actions will be held with strict health and safety measures in place.
Francis Giani, Chief Community Management Officer at Nakheel, said, 'Our clean up drive is part of our commitment to bringing residents together for environmental, educational and interactive initiatives at our communities across Dubai. It will be a great way to meet the neighbours and will hopefully raise awareness of the importance of proper disposal of household waste and the opportunities for recycling.'
Each person In UAE produces an average of 2.4 kg of trash per day. Much of this trash can be recycled. Items collected during the coming clean ups will be recycled where possible.
