Saudi Arabia plans to build a skyscraper with a height of 2 km

According to MEED reports, plans are currently being developed in Saudi Arabia to build a skyscraper that will become the tallest building in the world.

The new megaproject, which is estimated to reach a height of 2 km, will be more than twice as tall as the world's tallest building – Dubai's Burj Khalifa skyscraper with a height of 828 meters.

The tower will be part of an 18 sq. km development in Riyadh; a site adjacent to King Khalid International Airport has reportedly been identified for construction.

According to the contractors and based on the prices of existing towers in the region, the final construction could cost about $ 5 billion.

According to sources close to the project, a design competition was also announced, in which developers, architects, construction specialists and project managers were invited to participate and design a mega-building.

Several architectural firms were brought in to participate in the project in its early stages, according to reports, which reportedly involve names such as Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM), Adrian Smith & Gordon Gill Architecture.

The kingdom is currently experiencing a mega-project boom with many projects under development, and it is estimated that by 2030 it will become the largest construction site in the world.
