The development of the district began in 2007, and now it covers an area of 2 sq. km. Today this district is a free economic zone, which means that branches of foreign organizations located here are exempt from taxes for 50 years.

The territory of this part of Dubai is planned to become a place where services for the television and film industry will be provided and films will be shot. The emirate's authorities do not rule out the possibility that the area could soon compete with Hollywood.
